Seneca Caverns has closed, but no one knows why State officials are trying to determine why Seneca Caverns has been closed to the public. "We're still trying to find out what is going on," said Debbie Dunn of the West Virginia Division of Tourism. Dunn said her office found out Monday that West Virginia's largest caverns had been closed. Seneca Caverns' owner, Greer Industries - whose CEO is Morgantown businessman and former Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Raese - is West Virginia's biggest limestone producer. Greer Industries also operates a limestone quarry near the caves. Full Article

Another article stated that J. Robert Gwynne spokesman for Greer Industries Inc. said the closure was a business decision. shrug Maybe the cave wasn't making enough money by Greer Industries standards? Announcement of the closure is on the Seneca Caverns web site too. www.senecacaverns.com/
