Hummm.....that is a great topic starter! Okay, once we named a cave......Murray Moo Cave. ;D It was named because of the pond at the entrance with cows wading and using it as a port-a-john. Does helping name a cave and does naming a cave feature or a cave passage also count?

Lessee,
"Kave Kave Kave" named after a former meeting place of the boyz in the pointy white hats,
"Arrest-me-not Cave" when the landowner waited at the entrance for us to emerge (we were told by one in our group we had permission BTW)
"Boof Saltpetre Pit" named after our dog Boof who found it - may he rest in peace.
A friend named another cave "Black Santa Cave" Ho Ho Ho

Absolutely. Now that you mention it... "The Aces Smoke Pot" is one I came up with just for fun. It can also be hypothetical. Doesn't even have to be in existence.

ROFL .....well that sure has a double meaning. ;D That reminds me of a couple of biologists that received nicknames that have double meanings....... Free-Tail and 'Gater.

Does helping name a cave and does naming a cave feature or a cave passage also count? I sure think so. I recall a few odd passage / feature names; "Lynn's provocation" in Schoffner cave "Satan's Sphincter" in the Forever Crawl of Hubbards Cave "The Barr Stop" in Will Stone Cave

I can't remember the girl's name but maybe some other Southeastern caver will, but she discovered a 100 foot pit by the trail while climbing out of Lamons Cove sink back in the late seventies . The TAG cavers with her insisted that she drop the pit because they were too tired after exploring Lamons Cave and besides, they said, she had to do it because she was the one who had found it.
The drop down was narrow and arduous and the climb out was even worse, but from above the boys shouted encouragement throughout.
Finally battered and bruised she climbed out. Later the boys asked her " Whatcha gonna name your new pit, Honey?"
She thought and then said. " I'll not go back again but I'll remember it well.
