This is a serious topic. Have you ever been Stalked by a Caver? Including in person, online, on caving forums, via email, etc, etc,
If so, how did you resolve the situation?

If it's you, I'd sic Dr. Beaner on them!
It's a 4 step process: 1) Ask them to quit. Face to Face. Even be a bit rude about it. This has worked so far for me. 2) If it is a male caver, get some big male caver friend of yours to stand up to their full height, stare 'em down, and tell them to beat it. 3) Ignore them totally. Do not respond. Act as if they were invisible. Block them from your email using filters. Most stalkers take any attention as verification of their existence. If you absolutely ignore them, even the most persistent usually backs off. 4) If 1,2, and 3 don't work, then it's time for a court injunction against harrassment. I don't know the procedure for this, but if you have evidence that you have done 1, 2, and 3 to no avail, you are only left with 4.
Good luck.

Way Bad Karma!
What sort of friggin wimp hides behind a computer to make themself feel "superior"? Bogus freakin weenie needs to grow a pair and do somethin good in the world instead man. So much negative energy goes into that crap that could all be focused on cavin instead. I hope the loser reads this and takes a long hard look in the friggin mirror.
Hang tuff Lynn!

I do know of one incident in our caving group. It ended in both police and friends confronting the individual. It was a guy trying to get back at a girl for something she really had nothing to do with.
If you feel physically threatened....then I'd report it to the police so there is a record of the herassment. Ignoring the person completely is the other way to deal with it.
Good luck!!

Lynne, I haven't been here in a while, so hopefully this is all resolved by now.
If not, document, document, document. Keep records of EVERYTHING that happens with a stalker. Record times, situations, everything in as much detail as possible. Print out emails, record phone conversations. (The phone company might have some suggestions along that line. I think it's still legal to record phone conversations if you tell the person talking to you that you're doing it. Might also discourage the stalker.) If there are other witnesses to the stalker's actions, have them sign the documentation. If you do have to go to the police, all this will help make your case.

"If so, how did you resolve the situation?" Reverse your methodology. Befriend them. Start caving with them and when the time is right take them to some virgin lead in the boonies and let them be first down a pit. Then just pull the rope. Easy as pie! Presto....no more problem. And if you think they will change their ways then you might let them out or not. Rebel Edit: I'm serious!!

Yes indeed, And as you are slowly and carefully coiling your rope, enjoying the process of wrapping each wind around your knees you might just catch yourself saying in a loud clear voice "See ya - wouldn't wanna be ya"!
