12-7-07, I took my older sister caving for her first time. We went to Sloans Valley, entered through the garbage pit. She was in awe within the first 10 feet so i knew she'd have a good time. We began down the first time; it's not too bad of a climb perhaps 50 to 60 feet. Once you get down this you have the choice of turning right left or straight So first i took her to the right to show her a waterfall, it's a beautiful one. Behind it are some passages that i haven't been all the way through but would lead to a day of crawling. but we turned around and headed back when i happened to look to my right and saw a nice looking passage that wrapped around the first waterfall; and there was another waterfall that i guess was "feeding" the lower one. oh man it was a great find for me cuz i hadn't seen it before. also back there was a small tube like passag that was just tall enough for my body

ha.... gotta watch what buttons you hit. but back to the tube; i headed into it and told the others to stay back while i checked it out. it continued on but it was my sisters first time ever i didn't think she'd want to spend it in a hole. We left this area and continued on. we got to a junction that normally is full of about a foot of water and tons of those crawfish. But this time it was empty. we took a right at the junction and headed to the mud room for a break. (these aren't names on a map;just references for me)when you enter the mud room its like a T if you can picture that, we turned right and continued on to the first lake room. in the "mud room" the ceiling is soo high about 70 feet or better but it was real neat cuz i showed my sister how high the ceiling was and then took her high enough to be able to touch it. She got a kick out of that. Past the lake room is another T type room to the left takes you to the post office entrance and the fountain of youth and to the right is a medium climb that leads you back to the top of the first lake room. I chose the fountain of youth for her to see cuz its my favorite thig it just so serene. after about 25 minutes we made it to the fountain and took another break there. she LOVED this room, i mean who couldn't but it had been a feww hours by this time so we decided to head back to the entrance and to the house for some bacon and eggs . all in all this was an amazing trip i got to show my sister things i love; and she got to enjoy the heck out of it.

Good trip report, I am glad to see more caver's in our area. I am also glad to see more people getting interested in caving.
I hope to be underground again soon. Until then Cave hard, but softly.
