Well, we got up and got started early that morning, hoping to have plenty of time to explore what we thought would be a very long cave.
If we had known how short the short creek cave was we would have checked it the other day when we was over there.
The Cave , I thought, was named for the short creek coming out of one cave and running into the other cave about 50 feet away. Well this cave system was almost as short as the first creek from which it was named. We started down into the cave and crossed 3 little creeks and rounded a bend in the cave to see a pool or water and the exit . I looked back from where I was when I seen the exit and could still see the twilight of the entrance. A little disappointed, we traversed back out the entrance, due to the fact the water was to high for us to cross and when I stepped into the water to test the depth I immediately began to sink in muck mud. I guess that is how quicksand would feel.
We came back out and drove to look for another cave before returning to short creek to eat lunch.
All in all the boys had a good day, and that is all worth the time we spent.

Yes indeed it is always a good day when the kids are out in nature having fun. This includes all of us older kids too! I'm glad you were able to find another cave long enough to enjoy the trip though. Finding out your target cave is so short you never get to full darkness is always a bit disappointing! Post some photos if you have 'em.

Good trip report Tony. It sounds like that may have not been Short Creek Cave, afterall. I hate to hear it was such a short trip but - any day underground is still a good day!
