If you have a problem with Mormons that is your own problem I thought this was a caving board why don’t we keep to caving topics.
To go to main Drain all you had to do was ask, there are people that would have taken you.
And 9 hours down and back is not a record I have done it faster then that.
I hope you had fun in the cave, but next time go through the proper channels when you want to go to a cave, you are a NSS member you should no better.
The funny thing is you say that the rigging was bad, yet the cave was not all rigged by Utah cavers, we had some international guys that helped so don’t be dogging just cause it’s not your style.
What the hell are you taking about, what Mormon caving group!? And what friction!?. You obviously have not met any Utah cavers. Most of the people in the caving community in Utah are not even Mormons and even if some are why do you care.
Main Drain is a very amazing cave and if you want to go let me know, it’s not a secret. We are still actively surveying, mapping, and exploring and would love the help of anyone that wants to come out with us.
You don’t have to come out and sneak around and try to find it like these 2 guys!

Kinda late on the flame train, aren't we?
I guess you probably posted this before you read my email to you. That might make you feel a little foolish, but that's ok. The feeling is natural.
I haven't decided weither or not I'm going to bore these people with this petty drama. I'm kinda thinking not. Like you said, lets keep the forum to just caving topics.

wow, been keeping that in for a while havent you? but sure lets talk about this...
prior to our trip I had spoken to a few of the utah cavers about our goals, they were very informative, and very helpful. Of course they didnt just tell us where to find MD, but enough clues for us to finally find it after a fine afternoon of searching. I also joined the NUCA cave site and explained when we would be there, what we were hoping to do, and that we would be willing to join a trip, carry gear, whatever. I did not recieve even a simple no, just silence. So i tried to go through the channels, but to no avail, so dont chastise me. I have since returned to MD with some utah cavers, and surveyed, and helped derig for the winter. And yes, some of the rigging was skeptical, but it was the detail of the rigging, not the style, that we were talking about. Thanks to the international cavers that helped to rig it safely. We had fun, didnt think we stepped on anyones toes, and had a safe trip. As to the nine hours, im sure that it wasnt a record, but we had no map, round about drop depths, and we looked around at cave pearls, i took some pictures of some skeletons that werent flagged off, and toured the cave. but i think it was a pretty good time considering, and we didnt have anything to compare it to at the time. As to mormons and all that, we wrote on what information we had, some right some wrong, and i hav e learned much since that time. but lets follow your advice, and keep it off this forum. Do you have a name? I like to know who im speaking to. sneaky, sneaky...

caving01, why don't you post some of your trip reports to Main Drain or any other cave on the forum for other cavers to read? Everyone has different experiences on trips and most cavers enjoy reading trip reports. If you want to provide a different viewpoint of caving in Utah, a trip report is a great way to do this. Plus, it is much more interesting to read a new trip report than to read a critique of another person's trip report.
