These are mine and my husbands pictures. He was on the team and the camera used for the pictures was ours. Not to mention all Thor pics (which are over 400) have been copyrighted as of August 8, 2006.

A book may be a viable reason for team members to be reluctant to post concerning the expedition and any undesirable events. But cavers are still curious about the US Cavers New World Record that was rumored to be set and if the Canadian Ranger set a World Record during his last rappel. In my opinion the photo images on myspace.com were descriptive yet not very artistic and perhaps may not be up to par for publication.

..........what would e a poe say?.....sigh......the rest of the list is endless...sigh3....... onanothertopic.... whats with this crowd!?......four ways.....any guesses?........()  ).... can i be sued for giving a vague impression of what i saw?..........hmmmmmmmmm........probably not because i ain't asking for any money!.......yeah,...i'm safe...sides....i don't care in that world....... ....i reported that it kinda started up...........so it loaded slower....thats why i had the impression that i didn't do anything special to start it up, i didn't.....!...... ....as i remember i saw a lot of slides of guys from the drop off point in the park and going in and carrying the rope, they had it plasticed up pretty good, few shots......and lots of shots of the lip and the drop...telephoto stuff.....and more lip area shots......shots of people and the shrinking glaciers in the background...........hmmmmmmmmmm.........i do not remember a shot from the bottom of the rope.......someone mentioned the ranger philip robinson present in the last slide of the series, a shot of him going over the lip............i need to check out the links to see that!!.......... i also did not see a slide, in that series of anyone climbing the drop, at the bottom of the drop......or at the lip after climbing so, it was good to see an obviously worn out conqueror of thor..in the other slides...ACCORDING TO THE RULES OF SRT......if they didn't climb it it didn't count!!................... ..any reproducible copywrighted visual image (s) from the above description is entirely accidental on my part......and completely unintentional.................................i confess that i was trying to create a visual image in the mind of the reader(s)......and that i did not care one whit how close my descriptive image matched the aforementioned image that.....is copywrighted....copyrighted.......copywrited.....thankyou,.....thankyou......thankyouverymush..... .just visited the site peaker mentions....and looked in the right place tim........great slide show....very representative of the terrain as it occurred....good selections.... |

this is a dictated letter from my husband for all of you.....
" Hello, my name is Kenneth Waite and I am one of the Team Thor 04 and 06 expedition team members and cavers wife’s husband. As of August 28, I received information pertaining to a link posted here on US Cavers Forum that states the slide show on my wife's myspace page had been copied to Steve Davis's web server for all to view. As you already may be aware of, the pictures have been copyrighted and not for Steve Davis. O To the moderator, thank you very kindly for removing the link.
The slide show on my wife's myspace page was not intended for the caving community, but for family and friends of Team Thor 06. Although a complete slide show is currently in progress for the caving community to view and the team intends to have it completed within the next month or so. It should be available for viewing at TAG.
Additionally, the pictures incorporated into the slide show are a combination of the team members pictures. All pictures that were taken are not yet combined in one slide due to the team members living in different states. I expect to obtain several hundred more pictures from the other members soon and at which time; we will complete a full slide show of the expedition. Until then, GET ON ROPE!!!!!! and thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Most of you people on this site are really drama queens, aren't you? God, don't you have anything else better to do than to try to suggest demonic thoughts into one another's crazy minds? Most of you remind me of a group of old and lonely women, who have nothing better to do than gossip about nothing. You are quite the imaginative bunch I must say...Somewhat quite entertaining and humorous at times....HAHAHAHA.... I am so over reading all the CRAP that gets posted here - all the fallacies!!!! It is really pretty hilarious!!! I bet many of you were very interesting as children... I can assure you "peaker" and my husband are not one in the same...he never even looked at this site until 8/28/06 -as I have done my best to prevent him from seeing all of your unfortunate behavior and **** from all of the ** that is written on here...There are many folks whom I am sure remain silent....FYI Rock, over 1200 people have viewed myspace, and I only have 101 friends, so I am sure peaker has visited there. Have you? Were you also silent when you visited? So, you should really go and try to analyze something else my friend, Rock. - because you failed at this attempt...I am ROTFLMAO at you!!! Anyone who knows my husband, (and you obviously don't), knows he avoids drama, conflict of any type and people that are full of sh**! If you don't like what is being said here....then you should have been gone long ago! No one makes you read this forum. It is voluntary. Every one here has a right to state their opinions and comments, (excluding flaming I would hope) and does not have to ask your permission. I cannot believe you actually had the "Johnsons" to get on here and seriously flame these intellegent and well experienced cavers. Please go and spew your venom elsewhere and GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

HI cavewiggle, I would have PM'd you, but you did not leave a email address for us to do so...and I said I was not going to post anymore, but feel like your post deserves a response...
First off, I am not spewing venom at anyone particularly - people know who they are. I am only so frustrated by all of the misconceptions on this forum. It is very upsetting to me and for my husband and his peers - IE: TEAM THOR.
LET ME ASK YOU THIS PLEASE, If your husband was on a team that basically was being slung dirty for doing something extremely phenomenal, would you not retaliate? That is all I am doing here. Sticking up and standing up for what I believe in, for the person who means more to me than anything. Is that really a crime?
The people who have done wrong on this site know who they are...The ones that have done right, are noted and I am thankful that some have great theory. But - we get so many calls about "rumors" they heard about the trip and it is not right.... If someone wants to know the truth, and they deserve the truth, it will be known.... otherwise...well, I don't know.
It would just be nice to have people saying positive things - truthfulness would be helpful, too. Compassion – sympathy –whatever…Ya know? Instead, I feel most are jealous about their accomplishments. I really do. Sad huh?
I am sorry you don't see where I am coming from, but maybe you should live in my shoes here while I am trying to protect the best thing/person in my life, my husband. Granted, he needs no one on this forum, but he does have a great deal of pride. I sure would hate for any of this to tarnish it.
I hope you all will see where all these 5 pages have gone...,Most people are angry and throwing rocks at the team...Emotions are high...This was a very emotional trip for me, for my family, for the team, their families, and for the park ranger and his family. That's all...
Sorry to have bruised you. I wasn't trying to, just speaking how I see things. I am a pretty passionate person, not to mention very loyal to my peers.

I absolutely know the whole truth. Every single bit of it. It is not really your husband particularly that is under the gun in here. No one here has asked the 'right' questions and therefore will not get the answers they yearn for.
Regardless...your flames were too harsh towards these members and you really should apologize for your dramatic scene.

I appreciate your response, and I will not apologize to those who have slung the mud around the team and the events that occurred - just can't do it...Please go back and read the comments here...I don't like it one bit - granted - my husband is not under the gun here, but his team is!
I care about each team member and their families. We have grown so close over the years - speaking of the ones who went in 2004 and in 2006 as well as the new team members and their families of 2006. I only know what I have read here and it is a lot of fallacies - dishonesty. Maybe it is fantasies of some….I am not real sure why people have said what they have.
So - I am sorry - Like I said, the true people know who they are, and the others, well - they also know who they are. I am sure the ones that are true do not take offense to anything I have posted. It is the ones that have lied and started the rumors that will.
Like I said to you before, not trying to bruise you personally. I hope you again understand where I stand and what I believe in, which is truth and honesty - integrity and compassion - loyalty and passion.
I wish you well in all of your endeavors and hope that you will see things in a different light.. I wish all of you well, even the ones who have lied, because I am just that type of person. I wish no evil on anyone or harm whatsoever. Just convicted on my thoughts and believes.

Oh - one more thing, you are correct in the fact that no one really has asked the right questions, so no right answer has been given. I believe in due time, the team will make a statement, but it probably will not be here. Please give them the time to collectively put one together. They have been through a very traumatic experience while also having the most incredible experience of their life.

I think that unfortunately this discussion has taken a turn down the wrong path. This started at first as a discussion about the trip itself, the technical aspects of such a rappel, and so forth. After the tragedy became public knowledge, it has taken the focus off of the rest of the trip. This is natural and expected - of course people's innate curiosities will present themselves in such a situation. Of course people want to know what really happened. Of course people are asking all kinds of questions and want answers. But the bottom line is not one person on this forum should expect to have the RIGHT to know all the answers. *Especially when it is highly likely that some questions will never be answered, even for the team members themselves.* You can all ask as many questions as you want - I agree that each person has the right to post opinions and discuss whatever comes of those posts. That is the whole purpose of this forum. Unfortunately it is natural to upset or anger people - this is what happens when discussing something that is so deeply personal to some. We are humans and emotional creatures. Please, everyone, just remember to respect the team members, their families, and most of all, Philip Robinson and his family and friends. If the team wishes to not discuss or answer any questions, so be it. But please be aware that speculation and statements without facts can feed people’s curiosity and sometimes fury, and therefore will create a flame-war that can very soon get out of hand. I believe that if you wish to discuss the Thor expedition, the topic should turn back to the trip itself and not myspace, grits (which was actually funny…thanks for lightening the mood), or people’s theories. I’m sure if any of you know the team members personally you will have your chance at some point to ask them any questions you want - and they will either answer them or they won’t. But I don’t see that anything is being gained by this discussion in its present format. If you read about any great expedition, whether mountaineering, climbing, or whatever – most of them have their fair share of tragedy combined with triumph. And this trip was no exception. I am asking you all to please understand this basic fact and turn your attention back to the rest of the expedition if you should all decide that this is still a topic worth discussing. Thank you.

I will never post on here again - this forum is garbage!!!!!!!!! Uhhhh... Okay, I think that's quite enough! Coming from those of us who DID congradulate the team... I had a lot of sympathy for what the team members (three of whom are personal friends of mine) have been through. However, I think this post is WAY out of line and really rude. I understand that some really serious stuff happened at Thor. Two people on this board are questioning them, but since these two folks have actually BEEN to Thor, I hardly think their questioning and comments (and jokes) are out of line. As for people speculating who others are, people do that all the time on discussion boards. Part of the fun of discussion boards is trying to figure out who the anonomous posters are. I'd bet most of the Thor team members realize this, and I hope that Caver's Wife is not speaking for the Thor team. One last thing, there has been some speculation that all of this anger is coming from fear that someone might "show up at a Team Thor members home in the middle of the night", as Dirtman put it. Please don't be worried about that. There are no violent people out to get anyone. There was a confrontation between Tiny and one of the Thor team a while back, but I personally heard the message that was left on Tiny's voice mail, and have to say the motivation for a personal visit was justified. The guy's voice was pure rage and he basically threatened violence on Tiny the next time he saw him, and Tiny did not want to spend the next few months watching his back thinking this guy was going to get him. BTW, the actual confrontation was absolutely non-violent, and the Thor team guy did apologize to Tiny. Well, that's all I know. How's that for sticking my head in where it doesn't belong! |
