Missouri Peppered with CavesMissouri is not only the Show-Me state - it`s also called "The Cave State." The Missouri Speleological Society says our 5,700 caves put Missouri ahead of Tennessee in the number of show caves. Show caves are wild caves that have been "tamed" through lots of work and expense. Wild caves are just that - caves that are rugged and unchanged by man. The MSS supports the federal cave resources protection act and the Missouri cave resources act, passed in 1980, which protects all caves and their contents. Breaking formations, graffiti, littering, violation of cave gates, and other damaging activities can get you a fine - or jail time. KOLR10Update: Hot Caving News

Man... is that lunacy, or what?? MSS announced last May that Missouri had 6000 caves. Did we lose some? 300 of them? Just how does 5700 (6000+) caves put Missouri ahead of Tennessee in show caves? We've ALWAYS been ahead of TN in show caves.
That reporter needs to go back to Fact Checking 101. Or lay off the sauce.
