DeFazio, Wyden seek protection for Devil’s Staircase, Oregon Caves

FLORENCE — U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio introduced a series of bills in Congress Tuesday designed to protect the Devil’s Staircase, a Coast Range forest so steep and rugged that it has evaded industrial logging impacts for much of the past century. Two related bills add protections for the Lower Rogue River and the Oregon Caves National Monument.
