World first fossil find for Wits research team A team of researchers from Wits University made a historic discovery after finding the oldest fossilised strands of human hair in the Gladysvale caves at the Cradle of Humankind. The hair, estimated to be between 195 000 and 257 000 years old, is the first non-bony material in early hominid fossil records. Until now the oldest human hair was from a 9 000 year old mummy found in South America. Full Article
