The Indiana Karst Conservancy (IKC) is excited to announce the acquisition of Robinson Ladder Cave in northern Crawford County, Indiana. The cave is a Priority III Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) hibernaculum and thus is an important resource to permanently protect. It was also once a popular cave among organized cavers, although recent ownership has prohibited access. The cave is situated on a 40-acre tract which is partially wooded. The acquisition was a cooperative effort between the IKC and The Nature Conservancy. While the management plan has not been completed, appropriate access will be allowed during the non-closure months. You can visit the IKC website at www.caves.org/conservancy/ikc/rladder.htm to view some preliminary images of the cave and property (more to be added next week). As always, donations (large and small) will be needed to pay for this purchase. We hope you will agree this cave and property is worthy of protection and show your support generously. Donations can made by credit card via the secure link on our website or by sending a check/money order to the IKC, PO Box 2401, Indianapolis IN 46206. Keith Dunlap, IKC Treasurer Permission is given to post anywhere.
