I'm still experimenting with the new Canon Powershot A630. So another excellent place around here to take it is to Tumbling Rock. I met up with Nathan Williams and three of his friends, and we had a bit of a joint photo trip. He was trying out a new wide-area LED lighting system, and of course he had his two huge spotlights along. So the lighting for these three pictures was mostly supplied by Nathan. This was the first time I had seen the Dome lit up like this, and I was awed. In person, you saw the brilliant column of countless individual water drops falling ever so slowly. In the picture, of course, they are smeared out, but interesting in a different way. The first picture is from in the shaft, mostly out of the way of the water. The second picture is from up on the balcony, about 20' up and off to the side. With both of these Topless Dome pictures, I lessened the contrast of the images on my PC before uploading them. That brought out more of the details in the foreground The last picture is of the Christmas Tree a little farther on in the cave. Nathan has several of the LEDs on, plus my camera flash and hand-held flash. I liked what the LEDs did with the overall light level. Hope y'all enjoy. Mark O

Very nice Mark! The Christmas Tree formation always seems to look different in pictures than it does in person. Guess it is due to the back lighting. Good job to all of you!

Very nice! Nathan certainly has lots of light to play with! We hung out with him at DeSoto Falls last summer for awhile. He had about 50 lbs of gear strapped to his body. I wonder how he caves like that?? Enjoyed your photos.

Nathan and all his gear sure can be impressive. Sometimes he gets sherpas to help, but even if not, he still moves pretty dang good through a cave with all that.

Enjoyed the photos Mark! Nathan is a good caver to have along on a photo trip. I am truly amazed how much photo gear Nathan can carry.
