Well I've just discovered this sight and I'm hoping to find out more about caving in ny! yeah yeah I know its not georgia but I've found a few around here! I live in NE ny near albany. If anyone could help me out with cave info for this area, it would be a HUGE help. I've been to a couple wewbsights but they only really list a couple caves and they're part of the ncc wich require you to jump through hoops to get permission!

Welcome. I'm not from georgia or ny, (Missouri, actually) but welcome aboard. There are plenty of cavers near Albany-- upstate New York is a pretty rich karst area and not too far from Pennsylvania. Afraid you're going to find the 'jumping through hoops' part of organized caving everywhere. www.caves.org/grotto/hhg/about.php or if that doesn't fit, go to caves.org, and at the bottom of the page select New York. Some of us are less organized than others, but few cavers will take a NuB without meeting him or her, checking out their gear (or helping them rustle together some, and making sure he or she knows some basic safety and conservation info. Hope that doesn't offend, but that's the way all of us stay safe, keep landowners happy and make sure the caves are there for our kids (or our friend's kids.)
