Good evening Jerry,(Rockeater), Jerry had told us where to find this pit since it was so close to my step-sons house. Beware very muddy and loose rock. We walked from the second curve at the bottom all the way to the creek bed ,then we went at a higher elevation and found the pit where a tree had fallen over it with telephone cables going across the sink and down the mtn., We rigged to a big tree west of the sink and did a rebelay off the fallen tree with a pulley.About 15 down there was waterfall sumpimg south,I finally managed to twist and turn around the cork screw and when all of a sudden a big gigantic rock let loose and tumbled down and blocked our access. My step son then went down to see if he could budge the rock,no way, then another boulder let loose,it was time to route ,we climbed out using just ascenders, after pulling the rope there was a clean cut where the rock had sliced through ,maybe the Good Lord was watching over us. We hiked back out at the same elevation on an old logging road bed at the secong curve from the top. No more doodlebug holes for me,Thanks for the info, Take Care. Rick

Close call. I'm glad y'all made it out without further incident. One never knows when rocks will fall and you don't want to be there if they do!

Dude, sounds scary. Fortunate for you I don't think you were at Dog Collar Cave in Big Coon Valley. That pit is pretty good size in diameter. I don't think a car could lodge in the pit and prevent access. Unless the rock you dislodged was the size of a car!!! Scary thought.....

Hi Brad, Thanks for the reply, no this pit was on Lookout mtn. near Collinsville,a little 70' er. With all the rain we've been having must have washed the larger rocks loose. I t was draining pretty good from up above the sink. Regards
