new caver Jlynn and her room-mate Becky met up with Steve, Jonathon, and myself today for a trip to cedar ridge crystal, it turned out to be a nice day even though I'm still a little under the weather, this cave always lifts my spirits and having new caver's along, that are eager to learn, makes for an even better trip, I look forward to more trips with them, and here are some pics from today, Jlynn Becky Jlynn bacon Becky bacon some of the pics are a little fuzzy but still good, the ladies had a good time as did we all, and so long as they are willing to be in front of the camera I'll be posting more of our trips, I'll even try to post more formation pics next time in the interest of fairness to the caves, PS: Jlynn & Becky, welcome to tha' D.A.R.C.

It looks like Jlynn and Becky enjoyed the trip. ;D Yeah Bull I see what you mean about corkscrew Hey Bull did you tell the girls about good caving practices and why it is not a good idea to touch formations with ungloved hands.

I'm not scared of a little mud. It's nothing a little water won't wash off. But I will take the advice and leave the jewelry at home and pick up some gloves.

I'm not scared of a little mud. It's nothing a little water won't wash off. Spoken like a true caver. ;D Glad you had the opportunity to get in your first cave trip, Paul picked a good one to take you to. Here is a thread about different types of gloves some cavers use for caving: To glove or not to glove Maybe this will help you out and if you have any cave gear related questions, feel free to ask. Many cavers will be happy to help answer. Good trip report Cave Bull, thanks for posting!

Heck with the gloves. Who can cave in white shirts and keep 'em bright white? Also, long sleeves are preferable to short or sleeveless. Caves bite and scrape, you know!
I think this was supposed (!) to be a photo shoot!

Thanks for all of the advice and trust me that shirt was not white afterwards, but if I cared about it I wouldn't have worn it so it's not a big deal. Guys, don't let the faces fool you we still have a lot to learn but once we get it down you'll have a hard time keeping up with us. We are true rough necks, mud, cuts and bruises mean nothing to us.

if your talking about the pit on the back side of peanut butter crawl, thats not where the photo's going to be, not enough room back there for every body, and to much body heat will steam out the pic, the photo will probably be set up in one of the large rooms, the pit drop pic I'm wanting to do will be in the twins, multiple caver's on rope, all from different angles dropping at the same time, Ill show you Sunday if you make the trip.

EMS have taken NCRC training? And I also wondered if Bedford Co. EMS's were cavers 'before' or 'after' they became EMS's or EMT's. Just curious...

There is 2 level 3's , 2 level 2's & 4 level 1's.
Me & Joanna will be level 3's after we get back from Va.
All of us did caving before we went to NCRC. I even did caving before I started working EMS.

Wow, y'all are increasing the Bedford County caving population by a large percentage! Perhaps y'all need to join a local grotto if you keep caving etc. Welcome to all our "new" area cavers!
