Does anybody know which states in the US are caveless? I figure some of the plains states, a few way up in New England, and maybe some others are truly devoid of any caves. How about it?

I'm guessing SouthCarolina, Nebraska, N Dakota, Vermont, Rhode Island, and maybe New Hamshire.

Well, I dug a little further and came up with this little pdf file. www.caves.org/pub/journal/PDF/V64/v64n1-Veni.pdfIt shows that my New Hampshire guess was incorrect, but it appears Deleware and Rhode Island aren't showing any. Looks like Dr. Beaners hunch up about the New England area was right on the money

The U.S. Karst Map is helpful. George Veni's map adds a bit of interesting information on U.S. Karst and pseudokarst areas such as...
Tennessee: state with most caves. Kentucky: world's longest cave. Florida: most productive U.S. aquifer. Missouri and Arkansas: rare / endangered blind cave fish. Idaho: highly productive pseudokarst aquifer. California and Oregon: best developed marble karst in U.S. Oklahoma: largest U.S. gypsum cave. New Mexico: very large unusual caves formed by sulfuric acid. Alaska: caves containing important paleoarcheological evidence of dry land connecting to Asia during Ice Age. Texas: world's longest flowing artesian well, Hawaii: world's longest and deepest lava tube.
And the states Georgia, Alabama, Colorado and Virginia contain caves. So we can narrow it down state by state to find out the caveless states.

Nix Delaware. There is a book called 'The Cave of Delaware."
North Dakota and Nebraska have caves. ND (govt) has locations online, so I can't post a link or you'd have to kill me.
Rhode Island has Dinosaur Cave.

Rhode Island has at least 4 caves. I know a caver that lived in RI at one time.

Rhode Island has Dinosaur Cave. Hummm....I also remember a Nebraska Cave article in The Cave Conservationist a few years ago. So yeap Nebraska has at least one cave too. Mark that state off the caveless list.

I understand Kentucky has only two caves: Mammoth and Sloans Valley. Is this true?

Colorado has no cave entrances anymore. .................We've remarked all our maps to show them as exits only.
Sounds like every state has at least one cave within it's borders. I remember reading an artical in Rocky Mountain Caving about the one in North Dakota. I believe it is in the Turtle Mountains. Did you know North Dakota has mountains??

Can't be Arizona. That's where that Devil's sinkhole is (the cave featured on that car commercial). I know some people that have done a good bit of caving in Arizona. Wasn't there some to-do about how they couldn't hold NSS Convention there because they were afraid their caves would be over run?
