ello! Just wondering if any cavers have made plans to Go Caving during the Holiday? Is anyone blowing off their family so they can Go Caving on Christmas Day? What about plans for a great cave trip on New Years Eve or New Years Day?

My 7 y/o keeps asking Dad, when are we going caving again. So I called my brother and we may try a trip the Friday or Saturday after Christmas.
I will try to take some good pictures and post when we get back.
Merry Christmas

Sounds good guys! Well so far we have made no caving plans since we need to replace the transmission in the good old caving truck. It went out on the way home from Blue Spring Cave a couple of weeks ago. But things are looking up because we finally found a transmission, will pick it up tomorrow and if all goes well it will be in the truck this week! And so we should be able to go caving sometime during the holiday! Take care of your caving truck it will take care of you! ;D Happy Holidays - Happy New Year Cavers!

Blowing off the familiy doesn't sound good...if you blow off the family, who gives you presents?
I'm working T-W-Th after Christmas, however, Eugene will be home, and Fri-Monday the 1st have nothing scheduled at this time. Dunno about caving, but if the weather cooperates, there is a high likelyhood we will be outdoors someplace.

Good luck on the dig and let us know how it turns out. Another dig story with photos turned out to be a very interesting thread. As cavers we all like to hear about digs and discovery. Please post about it if you can do so without compromising the dig location etc.

Please post about it if you can do so without compromising the dig location etc. I will attempt to post if I can. This is not one of my digs though ,I am being reciprocal and helping a group that constantly comes out to our digs(plus they are great people and I Like to support inter group fellowship).I will ask and see what they say. Unfortunately for the most part a lot of cavers up here are old school about the internet and get bent out of joint if things get posted and or the majority of our caves are on private property .I personally feel that if a cave name is not posted and only interior shots are shown it would do little to contribute to people finding a cave.I really think sharing digs etc with photos helps all of us as cavers.I thank all who share freely on the internet now.We are slowly changing peoples minds locally slowly though. The blog I pasted an url for even caused a storm of comments etc Here is my caving partners blog, there is a bit of Ontario stuff mixed in throughout the various content. The blog is on a temporary hiatus right now rockwatching.wordpress.com/If you go through the blog far enough,I am the funny looking guy holding a huge burger I am not in many photos as I am usually the one taking them, the author ;)is MUCH more photgenic

TagKaver right, we have a trip planned for that weekend.
New Year weekend is in question. My family is planning to go to my sisters house in Florida, but I want to blow that trip off to stay up here to go caving.

No caving for me over this Christmas Weekend. All of my spare time has been spent getting ready for Santa Claus' annual visit. I'm shooting for a little New Year's Weekend caving. Merry Christmas All!

Trip was good. Productive...we got about 126 ft. surveyed. Tough, through a "rotten" rock area with high angle shots and loose rock. I knocked a rock off a ledge holding a peice of flagging tape...got me right on top of my left foot. Then a small rock got knocked loose and got my arm. Neither caused injury. In all my years of caving I've never had a rock get me....and two got me on Christmas! We're just shy of 1000 ft. mapped with much more to go. Opened this one up OTR weekend. We're goin' back Wednesday evening for another round. Look for a report Thursday.
