I just remembered we need to run down and check the water level in the cave and let you guys know if it is sumped or not. . ( Because of the landowners wishes to keep the name unpublished I just refer to it as "The Cave" .) Anyway I wish you all luck on the survey! Unfortunately we will be under a brothers house repairing the floor joists tomorrow and won't be able to join you for the survey. < insert whines and tears here > Good Luck! ;D

Okay, we ran in "the cave" and checked it out for the team. It looks good for tomorrows survey trip. A caving helmet and light under the house is standard equipment for us when conducting house maintenance. Doesn't everybody wear them?

While your under there make sure you where your helmet & light. That way you can close your eyes & think your in a cave. ;D There's about 10-12" of space to work in under there. Low crawling is the order of the day. I don't look forward to driving nails or dragging heavy concrete floor supports in under there either. Lynn may take a few "cave photos" while we are under there if she feels like it. At least it will be out of the rain if it does rain. Y'all have fun caving. I'll have fun trying out the new Sten light while doing some repairs!

Heh, An ambulance at a cave entrance would make an impact indeed! Maybe you can borrow one for the trip tommorrow just for grins! ;D
Y'all have a good survey trip and finish that cave up. if I get done in time we may drop by to watch y'all drag your tired muddy bodies out of that hole. We also need to pick up our survey instruments!

Here is a pic of Bull coming through the "Tater piller". There is a whole nother register just for getting through this spot. Not many names on that register. Nice little piece of Bacon in the register room past "Tater piller"

That looks like the floor was washed out from under the formation to me. Maybe it formed on some mud and later the mud washed away. That is a pretty neat formation!

Thanks for the cave pictures! Now I understand why Bull looked so tired when we met them at the parking area Saturday afternoon. Yep, the ' tater peeler ' must have gotten the best of him.

hey all, here it is short sweet and bull'ified, Rodney; john Smyre named that formation the "Sasquatch foot" trip report; the survey now stands at 9,556.0ft of surveyed passage, a few thousand left to go, and some new leads ( not virgin) left to go, the 2004 discovery totaled out 805.3 ft and the 2006 discovery still stands at 20+ft of canyon squeeze, 5&1/2 inches wide X 40+ft deep canyon/pit X un-investigated chamber 30+ ft across tight slippery canyon upper/top traverse,
thank you: to all helping, all who have helped in past, all new help, and to Lynn for remembering, that we do NOT use the name of the cave on any forum, out of respect for land owner wishes,
look forward to seeing ya ll on the next trip, may 12th

I did not get to make that trip. Had a class all day & then had to work the rest of the night. Bull & them did check out a lead that ended up not going far. Maybe he can fill us in on the rest.

the lead ended up being to tight for most of us ( all but one ) and unfortunately it was also a fool'u room, turns out not as big as we thought , young Bryan got in and said he was having a hard time moving around in there and that it only went about 40 ft and stayed tight the whole time, at this point we all heard the cave laughing, ;D so we went on and surveyed some more ended up gaining 200 more ft and confirmed some loops and dead ends for next trip, we now stand at 9,756.5 ft and growing, we did find a nice little formation grotto that i had not seen before and we have some small leads for a determined SKINNNNNNY person to look at, ( some with a pet monkey put a camera on its head, and send it in PLEASE) below you will see Bryan's hole he named it "lee way hole" and also you will see a couple of shots from the UN-named grotto

ps: this was my first trip with young bryan and the boy realy impresed me, for some one new to caving ( 2nd cave, he's ever been to) and nervous at first, he took to the crawls, chimny downs, and ups, as well as lead tape very well, he actualy chose some very good points for me to read instruments from, yall think I should let him tag along some more?
