Hi, this is my first post and I searched with no results regarding Caving in Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin. I recently went to Maquoketa caves in Iowa and This was my first time caving, I loved it and would like to do more of this! Thank you!

Welcome Kramer, Many of us on the board are from the eastern US and southern US and are not too familiar with your area. There should be cavers in your area but they may or may not be a member of our forum. You just have to ask and see who may be out there to give you a hand. There probably are some local grottos in your area as well so keep looking online etc. So are there any cavers from Illinios or Wisconsin that can guide Kramer to some caves?

I enjoyed the Maquoketa caves a lot because they also have a campground within walking distance of the caves

If you go to www.caves.org, and down to the bottom of the page to Find a Local Caving Organization, and type in Illinois, you will get links to Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin grottos. Some are in Northern Ill. In general, though, there are caves in Adams County (Quincy) Il, and other holes in bluffs along the Mississippi, but the great interior of IL north of Springfield, IL is largely karstless, as the caves, if any, are buried beneath glacial deposits, in the Great Corn Desert. There are Illinois caves near St. Louis MO and in Southern Ill. You might want to check out Illinois Caverns --run by IDNR. But a lot of IL cavers cave in IA, IN, KY, and MO.
