Here is one of the most ignorant articles about bats I have ever had the displeasure to read: Panic in Paradise: Rabid Bat Attacks Marina Thursday, January 10, 2008, by Sarah Hromack On guard, Marina denizens: there's a predator among you. Word has it that an "ailing" bat was captured at the corner of Mallorca Way and Beach Street over the weekend— and that said blind, deaf creature was, in fact, rabid. Mass pandemonium ensued as local revelers panicked, flailing Coach shopping totes and Diesel man bags alike in a spectacularly choreographed fight for their lives. Local authorities suggest increasing the amount of one's bleached highlights and/or use of high-gloss hair product as a means of deflecting future attacks. sf.curbed.com/archives/2008/01/10/panic_in_paradise_rabid_bat_attacks_marina.php

No doubt, Sarah is living in the dark ages. (pardon the pun)

Uhmmmm.....I don't think this was meant to be taken seriously. Seemed VERY sarcastic to me. ;D Looks like that's just the toungue-in-cheek writing style for this publication. It even had a link to a much more "straight" version of the story. " Local authorities suggest increasing the amount of one's bleached highlights and/or use of high-gloss hair product as a means of deflecting future attacks."C'mon...THAT'S funny.

I guess spreading information like "deaf and blind" just hit me the wrong way. I do like sarcasm but bats seem to get too much bad publicity IMHO. There are lots of other humorous things to write about bats that would cause less confusion or damage to their public image. BTW I've always used high gloss hair products to ward off potential rabid attack bats! ;D
